Delete Account

Under Settings → Account you'll find two GDPR-related functions: data portability and account deletion.

Data portability​

To export consent data for an individual event (CSV/ZIP), see Manage Consents. For further questions about the portability of your stored data (GDPR Art. 20), reach out to support.

Deleting your account​

The "Delete account" button in the danger zone starts the deletion process. A confirmation dialog explains the consequences and requires you to type the word "DELETE" before deletion is actually triggered.

What happens after confirming?​

  1. A full data export (CSV of all consents, as a ZIP) is prepared in the background and emailed to your account address — this usually takes only a few seconds to minutes.
  2. The actual deletion is not executed immediately — it's scheduled for at least 30 days later (grace period).

While deletion is only scheduled, the page shows a red banner with the planned deletion date, a note on whether the data export has been confirmed as sent, and a "Cancel deletion" button that lets you undo it at any time.

Once the 30 days end, deletion happens as soon as the data export has been confirmed as sent. If the export email couldn't be delivered (e.g. due to a broken SMTP configuration), mediaConsent keeps waiting rather than deleting without the export it promised you — but no later than 90 days after your original request, deletion happens regardless of export status, so your data doesn't stay around indefinitely. If the status indicator still shows "could not be confirmed yet" after more than a few hours, cancel the deletion and request it again to retry the export.

Your account and all associated events, consents, branding, and settings data are permanently and irreversibly deleted once deletion runs.

:::info Your own retention obligations As the data controller, you're responsible for retaining proof of consent for the duration of your own legal retention obligations — use the automatic export sent when deletion starts, or the manual export under Manage Consents. :::
